Music is the answer to your problem homie

Music is a stepping stone for the soul.  Once you find a song you connect to, that adds your soul to the matrix of all other people that shared the same emotion when they heard that song adding to this crazy thing we call society.

The Universe Unfolds

Have you ever been on a personal journey of sorts and simply known to the deepest parts of your essence that you are simply at the exact place you need to be? I constantly have these micro epiphanies in my life. They are affirmations i have learned to pick up on and use to help guide my inner self to become the man i am destined to be.

Unsurprisingly, one such event occured today. Lemme break it down real quick:

I was supposed to write my final articling exam, however i was stubborn and didn't purchase the required calculator which put me in a very unlikley position to pass.

I conteplated not going, but went with my instinct to say fuck it, its always better to try and fail, than to cower and live in doubt.

At the exam, i knew that among the many nervous young faces, i would be one that on this perticular day would somehow be different.

Of course a clerical error left administrators appologizing to me when inside i know that this was simply the universe providing me a path that will ensure i follow my calling.

I strongly beleive that everyone has such callings and must only learn to keep their eyes open for them. The universe along with all people want you to grab your dream by the balls and finally become what you are ment to become. It is fate.

Drugs are but a game of chicken with your will power

It is said that human nature causes us to emphasize the opposite characteristic that is in truth our weakness.  The shy person craves attention, overly loud and obnoxious person is lacking self confidence and so forth.  In terms of addiction, what we really lack in character is will power, and drugs are the ultimate test of will.  All addicts know that there is a certain point of no return when it comes to drug abuse, those that can push close to that line and manage to change their lives have attained the strongest form of will power that a human can achieve.

Let's face it, drugs are fun.  When you have a headache, you can meditate, drink some herbal teas, wait and hope or simply pop a Tylenol (or perhaps something with a little more oomph) to instantly eliminate your ailment.  Same goes with deeper psychological pains and stronger illegal drugs.  There is no over the counter solution to the feeling of isolation and loneliness.  Sure there are things you can do to alter your life and eventually with some luck you can start to slowly and painfully erode these crippling emotions.  Or just do some drugs.

One of the problems with drugs is that the people that are doing them are poor spokespeople as they themselves generally do not understand the reasons they are drawn into addiction.  However, these people are some of the most talented and unique artistic minds who simply are not given an easy paved path in society to find meaning and acceptance.  More creative minds work in a different and incredible way that takes much longer periods of self understanding before the talents can be used in a social manner.  Drugs are a way to understand yourself, plain and simple.

If you're like me, and have used various substances to help understand your inner needs and desires, know that there are many like you out there.  Never let yourself pass the point of no return and you will be stronger and wiser for your struggles. Good luck in your game of chicken.

I.

Asshole Street Lights Keep Stalking Me

I am not quite sure if I'm alone in this but, since I was a child I have noticed that whenever I would be walking down the sidewalk mindin' my own buziness, the streetlights illuminating the path would either turn on or off as I near them.  For the longest time, I was convinced that I had some super human electrical aura that would trigger the lights to either turn on or off.  As a fully grown adult, although I still kind of believe/hope that is the case, I know now that they use light sensitive photocells to operate. This meaning that as there becomes less light, the photocells sense it and apply current to the bulb and vice-versa. Asshole photocells render my superpower highly unlikley. Frowny face.

Unfortunately this is the only superpower I have yet to discover, and I am not willing to let it just slide without at least putting my 2cents out there to see if there are other freaks out there like me.  Of course the educated person would say that, "hey ilja, obviously since you've obviously been keeping mental tabs of streetlight performance as a kid, you're gonna see a few change."  This has always been the mental explanation I tell myself to keep my sanity and repress possible chances of delusion. (Really want to find out what this rule is called.  I think I read about it in a book about that autistic kid that sees yellow cars more than others. Mental note to find it. Start with Murphy's Law Bible .) No more will I stand for the tyranny which is society and its need to compartmentalize peoples mental processes!

Anyways, rambling aside, as I walked to my local watering hole today, a mere 3 km stumble, I have observed 3 street lights turning on, and 1 turning off directly as I passed beneath them.  This cannot be coincidence. I must be onto something great, perhaps epic. Any ways, fuck you and here's a picture of a cute picture of kittens in teacups I stole from the internet.

You're Brushing Your Teeth Wrong!

How can it be that something the average 25 year old (in a first world country), has done around 9,000 times in the span of their life is still doing it wrong? Maybe its just me, but lets find out with this homemade trusty checklist;

  • Do you have to rinse your mouth more than once?
  • Are your teeth getting more sensitive to touch with time?
  • Are they progressively getting more yellow?
If you answered yes to any of the above you have won a FREE all inclusive trip to Paris, France.

I recently realized that this has been the case with my own teeth so i started to experiment with a different methods and brands to come up with something that works for me.

Since sharing is caring, I will now tell you the three simple things that have helped me out.

  1.  Do not brush hard.  This will remove enamel with time and cause tooth sensitivity.
  2. Use a toothpaste that has bleach in it.  ( Crest 3D White is my go-to)
  3. Instead of rinsing by taking sips of water, only put water on your toothbrush, brush and repeat until the taste of toothpaste is gone.
Now smile.

Mini Hero

The world is in need of a hero. Someone to watch over the people and ensure their freedom from the shackles of annoying impossibly frustrating hindrances.

In a blindingly dark time when you just cant reach that jammed blind at the last open table at your favorite Starbucks, i'll be there to keep the sun out of your eyes.

Reclusive DVP Groundhog PT. 2

The infamous DVP groundhog has become increasingly more brave since my last post (http://radinilya.blogspot.ca/2011/04/reclusive-dvp-groundhog.html).  I managed to snap a picture of him near the side of the road.

Moments after taking this picture, I began to wonder why he was so close to the road.  Was he trying to escape his lonesome fate, trapped between two perma-busy Toronto highways?  Was he becoming self aware of the greater world around him?  Was the melancholy leading him to a suicidal mission under the tracks of some drive-by vehicle?  Or was he simply scavenging remains of food some fat guy threw out of his window onto the side of the road?

Sure enough, the following week he was in the same place, lifeless.
